Sucre glace - Canal flair
This time I tried the ice cream from Sucre Glace - a little place right by the canal. The location alone makes it worth a visit, perfect to eat your icecream with the view of the canal.
The shop itself is charming – flavors handwritten across the window, simple and inviting. There’s a wide variety to choose from, and all of it is made sans additifs. Just natural ingredients, no tricks.

Now, that’s a menu! I went for one scoop of yaourt in a waffle.
Super creamy, smooth, and fresh. I really liked the texture — soft, not too icy — and that subtle yogurt tang comes through nicely. For my taste, it could’ve been a little less sweet, but it’s still a beautiful scoop.
The waffle? Good- crispy like you want it - subtle.
This place doesn’t try too hard, and that’s exactly why it works. Natural, calm, and genuinely good.
Conclusion: 3 Cones! I’ll definitely be coming back.
Sucre glace was founded by Thierry, a trained pastry chef who fell in love with gelato during a study trip to Sicily. Back in Paris, he spent years refining his recipes — aiming for ice cream that’s less sweet, free from colorings or artificial flavors, and made only with natural ingredients. In 2017, together with two friends, he opened Sucre Glace in a tiny former crocodile leather workshop along the Canal Saint-Martin. Today, it’s a neighborhood favorite — known for honest, handcrafted ice cream in one of the city's most relaxed spots.
